What the numbers mean.
The metrics come from Google's Lighthouse. We translate them into what matters most for a business: inquiries.
What does the charging time value indicate?
Google rates how quickly a page loads on a simulated mid-range cell phone on a cellular network, on a scale from 0 to 100. A score of 90 or higher is considered fast, while a score below 50 is considered slow. According to Portent (2022), B2B pages that load in one second convert about three times as well as pages that take five seconds to load.
What is LCP, and why 2.5 seconds?
LCP is the moment when the largest visible content appears, usually the hero image or the headline. Google sets the threshold for “good” at 2.5 seconds. Anything longer means the visitor sees a blank or half-loaded page and decides within that time whether to stay.
What does the layout shift mean?
When content shifts while loading because images or fonts take up space after the page has loaded, users may click in the wrong place or lose their place in the text. Google measures this as CLS; a value of 0.1 or less is considered good. This is usually caused by images without fixed dimensions, banners that load later, or ad scripts.
Why is accessibility important for a small business?
Because contrasts, labeled form fields, and alternative text help all visitors—not just people with disabilities. And because, as of June 28, 2025, the Accessibility Enhancement Act applies to websites used to enter into contracts or book appointments. The value here is an automated check, which identifies only a portion of the issues.
What does “real user data” mean?
Google anonymously collects data from Chrome users on how quickly your page actually loaded for them over the past 28 days. This real-world data is more accurate than lab measurements, but it’s only available if enough people visit the page. Small websites often don’t have any.
My score is low. What should I do first?
Almost always in this order: Resize images and serve them in modern formats, remove third-party scripts that nobody needs, self-host fonts, and preload the hero image. Then check your hosting. The “Biggest Time-Wasters” list in the results shows where most of the time is being spent on your site.
Something that goes well with the loading time.
