Questions from the initial meetings with tradespeople and electrical contractors. Here are the answers.
How much does a website cost for a small business?
Based on our experience, for a business offering four to six services, with genuine client references and a well-established inquiry process, the price typically falls in the mid-four-digit range; the quote will include a fixed price and a delivery date. If you just need a professional business card to get started, you can begin with our website for 999 euros.
We hardly have any photos. Will that still work?
Yes, but not with stock photos—every customer can spot those. One photo taken with your cell phone for each completed job is enough. We’ll show you which images work best: the construction site, the team, the vehicle, and the finished project. Until then, we’ll work with what we have.
Is a Google Business Profile more worthwhile than a website?
For searches like “roofing contractor Cologne,” the map section is often the deciding factor. That’s why we set up both together: the main category, individual services, service area, and the exact same contact information as on the website. Without a website, however, the profile lacks the destination to which it links.
How fast does our website need to load?
Google considers a load time of up to 2.5 seconds for the main content on mobile devices to be good. According to our measurements, 12.5 percent of Cologne-based tradespeople’s websites meet this standard. We check every page with Google Lighthouse before handing it over. You can test your current page for free using the Speed Check.
Do we need to make the site accessible?
The Accessibility Enhancement Act has been in effect since June 2025 for many businesses that handle online inquiries. We incorporate contrast, font sizes, and usability from the very beginning. This also helps any customer who’s standing on a construction site in the sun using their cell phone.
Can we edit the text and references ourselves later?
Yes, that's the standard procedure. You can update new project photos, changes to services, or business hours yourself using the content management system. Training on how to use it is part of the handover.
Do you only work in Cologne?
Our studio is located in Hürth, near Cologne, and the Craft Report focuses on that region. However, we have also built for businesses in Karlsruhe, Alzey, and Switzerland. The process is the same everywhere.
How long does it take to complete the website?
According to the concept outlined in the proposal, the delivery date depends on the scope of the project. You’ll see the design and development in stages before anything is finalized, and you’ll know where the project stands at all times.
